Man sentenced to one month in prison for selling migratory birds in Habiganj

A mobile court has sentenced a man to one month in prison for selling migratory birds in Bahubal upazila of Habiganj.

The court led by Habiganj's Bahubal Upazila Nirbahi Officer Snigdha Talukder passed the order yesterday afternoon, our Moulvibazar correspondent reports.

Roni Ahmed (28) of Balidara village of the upazila was arrested and sentenced while he was selling five Grey-headed Lawping birds (locally known as Theta Gang), said the district's Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Department Forester Tofail Ahmed.

Later the Uno released the birds.

Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA), Habiganj General Secretary Tofazzal Sohel said that Rony was sentenced for one month in jail as per the rule of Wildlife (Conservation and Security) Act, 2012.
