DoE fines 10 illegal brick kilns Tk 24.5 lakh in Kurigram

The Department of Environment (DoE) today fined 10 illegal brick kiln owners Tk 16.5 lakh in Kurigram's Ulipur and Nageshwari upazilas.

Two separate mobile courts of the DoE conducted the drives. The brick kilns include four in Ulipur upazila and six in Nageshwari upazila, reports our Lalmonirhat correspondent. 

Mesbabul Alam, deputy director of the DoE in Rangpur said the brick kilns were being operated illegally without any environmental clearance certificate and brick burning licence from the district administration.

During the drive, SM brick kiln was fined Tk three lakh, MS brick kiln Tk three lakh, KHM brick kiln Tk one lakh and SA brick kiln Tk one lakh in Ulipur upazila.

The mobile court fined MB brick kiln Tk three and a half lakh, SRB brick kiln Tk four lakh, Janata brick kiln Tk 2.25 lakh, AM bricks kiln Tk two lakh, JS brick kiln Tk one and a half lakh and MHT brick kiln Tk three lakh in Nageshwari upazila.

Executive Magistrate Tanzila Tasnin conducted the mobile court in Ulipur Upazila and Executive Magistrate Mahmudul Hasan conducted the operation in Nageshwari upazila.
