DoE bulldozes 3 brick kilns in Chattogram

Department of Environment (DoE) in Chattogram region today demolished three brick kilns in Chattogram's Raozan upazila in line with an earlier High Court order.

The kilns were under operation without proper documents and clearance from concerned authorities.

The brick kilns are Ashraf Bricks, Gafur Ali Bostami Bricks Industry and Bengal Bricks Company.

Zamir Hossen, deputy director of DoE, Chattogram, told The Daily Star that that as per High Court order the drive against illegal kilns are going on.

"Today, we bulldozed three kilns which did not have any proper documents and were being operated with prohibited drum chimney", he added.

Around 20 lakh earthen bricks were also destroyed, he said.
