4 held while trying to snatch away auto-rickshaw on highway in Feni

Police arrested four alleged members of an inter-district gang of muggers while they were trying to snatch an auto-rickshaw on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Sadar upazila of Feni early today.
The arrestees are Momin Ullah (58), Joynal (33), and Sek Ahmed (40) of Noakhali and Monir Ahmed (35), of Feni, said a police official.
Md Sohel Sarker, inspector of Fazilpur Highway police camp in Feni, said a muggers' gang on a microbus tried to intercept a CNG-run-auto-rickshaw on the highway in Chanua area around 12:30am.
A patrol team of highway police chased the gang when they tried to flee the scene sensing the presence of the law enforcers.
Police finally managed to arrest them from in front of Sultana Filling Station in Muhuriganj area, a correspondent in Feni reports, quoting the police official.
Police also seized a microbus and some equipment used for mugging from the spot, he said.
They are accused in several cases, including robbery and mugging, filed with different police stations, added the official.
