Gambling ring in Malaysia makes over Tk 2 lakh a day from customers in Bangladesh

Malaysian police have raided an online gambling operation centre at a serviced apartment at Jalan Klang Lama which targeted customers in Bangladesh.
The raid came a day after Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Abd Jalil Hassan announced that the police had raided 826 premises linked to gambling operations since January 15, reports Free Malaysia Today.
Speaking to reporters at the scene today, city CID chief Habibi Majinji revealed that the centre collected up to RM 10,000 (Tk 205,610) in deposits a day from its customers.
"...We nabbed five Bangladeshi men and seized several computers and handphones," Habibi said.
One of the workers claimed that a Bangladeshi agent had offered him a customer service position after he was jobless for several months in the city centre, stated the report.
Habibi said since last month, the city police had raided 110 gambling premises and arrested 306 people, of whom 156 people were charged. The rest were still being investigated, according to the report.
