3-day long “Bangladesh Book Fair” begins in UAE
A three-day long "Bangladesh Book Fair and Banga Sanskriti Festival" has begun in the UAE with an aim to generate interest among expatriate Bangladeshis living in reading in the UAE and produce quality writers.
Poet and former principal secretary to the prime minister Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury inaugurated the fair at the Bangladesh Consulate premises in Dubai yesterday afternoon (November 4, 2022).
The fair will continue till November 6.
Presided over by Bangladesh Ambassador to the UAE Muhammad Abu Jafar, Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel was present as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony.
There are 73 stalls in this book fair organised by the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Dubai for the first time. A total of 30 renowned publishing houses from Bangladesh joined the fair.
Renowned poets and litterateurs from Bangladesh, UAE, India, and UK were present at the inaugural ceremony of the book fair. On the first day, books of five authors, including three expatriates, was unveiled on the occasion of the fair.
