2 Bangladeshis elected in international student union at China’s Jiangxi University

Two Bangladeshi students have won the first international student union election at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, one of China's leading educational institutions.
Mohammad Sayedul Islam, a PHD student of the university, has been elected chairperson and Mohammad Akbar Hossain, a master's student, has been elected minister of the volunteer department.
Ina Wang, vice-dean of the university's Overseas Education School, announced the results of the election on Tuesday (November 1, 2022) evening.
Mohammad Sayedul Islam defeated three contestants of the executive committee and Mohammad Akbar Hossain was elected unopposed.
They will serve for the next one year.
The annual election of the student union was held in two phases. In the first phase, the eligibility of the students contesting the election was verified and the election speech was presented. In the second phase, teachers and students elected representatives by voting.
The institution, which is one of China's leading universities, has 400 foreign students. The International Students' Union works for the protection and welfare of foreign students.
