Impress Telefilm launches 'Boutique Cinema' project
Impress Telefilm Ltd has taken a bold step to develop the country's film industry, declaring six new films at once -- all of them to be directed by young directors -- under the banner of 'Boutique Cinema'. Faridur Reza Sagar, Managing Director of Impress Telefilm Ltd, introduced the six directors at the grand ballroom of Westin Hotel on March 30.
The directors and their films are -- Amitav Reza (“Proxy”), Akram Khan (“Ke”), Adnan Al Rajeev (“Projonmo X”), Abu Shahed Imon (“Jalal-er Pitagon”), Golam Kibria (“Korpur”) and Rabiul Alam Rabi (“Taka'r Khela”). Besides Faridur Reza Sagar and Ibne Hasan Khan, noted filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki will be producing the films.
Veterans of the film industry present at the event expressed hopes that the new blood injected into the industry will rekindle the fire, and the industry will find its lost glory.
Impress Telefilm has produced 75 films since 2004, bagging 116 National Awards and many more in the country and abroad. They are the only production house in the country whose films (a total of five so far) have competed at the Oscars.
