Mohammed Irfan Syed passes away
Mohammed Irfan Syed (Poltu), son of former finance minister M Syeduzzaman, passed away from a heart attack on May 5. He was 60, said a press release.
He is survived by his son Ibraaz, daughter Ilhaam, parents Hafeeza and M Syeduzzaman, and sister Tania.
Irfan obtained his MBA in the USA. He began his career with Banque Indosuez and later moved to Dhaka Bank and BCCI. Before leaving for the USA, he was briefly involved in the textiles sector. He also served as a director at Bank Asia and Delta-BRAC Housing. Irfan had a deep interest in art and was also a talented painter.
