Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma are celebrating local artisanship and craftwork in the city tours of Yash Raj Films' Sui Dhaaga. The actors began their promotional campaign on August 7, the National Handloom Day in India, and are set to travel the length and breadth of the country during the promotions for which they have dedicated 40 days. Their nationwide tour to promote the film signals that they are going all out for it.
The actors revealed the logo for Sui Dhaaga on August 7, and it may be the most beautiful logo ever created for a Bollywood film.
For the first time ever, a film's logo has been made by artisans from across India. The film's team reached out to local artisans and craftsmen from across the country to create the logo in their unique stitching styles.
Most recently, Varun draped a saree, just like Anushka does in the film. It was clear from the actors' instagram accounts that Anushka was his partner in crime.
Throughout their nationwide city visits, Anushka and Varun will be interacting with local artisans, visiting their workshops and offices and also try and pick up a skill or two from them! It is their effort to bring focus on the local industry that needs attention and preservation in this digital era.
In Sui Dhaaga, Varun Dhawan has been cast as Mauji, a simple village man who establishes his own entrepreneurial 'Made In India' label after tremendous hardships and constant support from his talented wife Mamta. Anushka and Varun both had to shed off their on-screen “glamourous” persona for the film, which will be released on September 28.
