'Boat', 'plough' to clash in Kurigram-4

In Kurigram-4 (Chilmari, Ranemari and Rajibpur) constituency, Awami League and Jatiya Party are in polls race as candidates of both the parties have been given symbols by the returning officer.
District election office sources said no letter from the grand alliance on withdrawal reached the office till 10 pm on December 11.
As a result, Zakir Hossen (Awami League) and Md Golam Habib Dulal (Jatiya Party) were accepted as candidatures and given polls symbols 'boat' and 'plough'.
Kurigram Returning Officer Md Ashaduzzaman told this correspondent yesterday he did not get any letter from any of the parties as regards Kurigram-4.
As nomination papers of Zahid Hossain (Awami League) and Md Golam Habib Dulal (Jatia Party) were valid, they were given 'boat' and 'plough symbols respectively.
Both the candidates have kicked off campaign in the area, creating great enthusiasm among there party workers.
Awami League has withdrawn its candidates from three other seats-- Kurigram-1, Kurigram-2 and Kurigram-3, where Jatia Party candidates will be in the race as grand alliance candidates with 'plough' symbol.

ইশরাকের আইনজীবী ব্যারিস্টার এ এম মাহবুব উদ্দিন খোকন সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, হাইকোর্টের আদেশের ফলে ঢাকা দক্ষিণ সিটি করপোরেশনের (ডিএসসিসি) মেয়র হিসেবে ইশরাককে শপথ পড়াতে আইনগত কোনো বাধা নেই।
