Manjurul Imam was killed in intra-party clash
Veteran Awami League leader Advocate Manjurul Imam was killed in intra-party clash.
This was stated by Khulna city BNP leader and former ward commissioner Hasibul Huq Babla before the Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Abdus Salam Shikder yesterday.
The BNP leader, who is a prosecution witness of Manjurul Imam Murder Case, named Ward Commissioner and city Awami League leader Imam Hasan Chowdhury Moina as one of the planners for the murder.
Babla said Moina used to abuse Manjurul Imam openly and he went into hiding for several months after the murder.
The court recorded his statement before fixing March 18 as next date for hearing of other prosecution witnesses.
The court also issued arrest warrants for four prosecution witnesses as they did not appear for deposition.
They are Haji Mofizul Islam of Agargaon under Mohammadpur Police Station in Dhaka, Sub-Inspector Abdul Awal, Saiful Islam and Shahab Ali of Khulna.
Four chargesheeted accused in the case were present in the court.
Advocate Manjurul Imam, president of Khulna city Awami League, was bombed to death on August 25, 2003 near his residence at Shamsur Rahman Road under Sadar Police Station.
