Three top Padma officials sued
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday filed a case against three officials of state-run Padma Oil Company Ltd in the port city on charge of embezzlement.
The officials were allegedly sold Tk 1.06 crore worth of kerosene and diesel of the company on black market in 2011 and misappropriated the money.
The accused include Deputy General Manager (Operation) Akhteruddoza, Assistant General Manager Abul Bashar and former manager (Operation) Javed Mohammed Nuruddin.
The three officials sold off more than 2.36 lakh litres of kerosene and diesel between February 1 and March 8, 2011, said Mini Rani Barua, assistant sub-inspector, Patenga Police Station.
“The officials showed the amount as "loss" in the financial statement of the company”, said Humaiyun Kabir, deputy assistant director (DAD), ACC, Chittagong region, who filed the case with the police station yesterday.
“After 20 days of investigation from March 1 to March 21, 2011, a three-member divisional probe committee found the misappropriation”, he added.
