Helal quits NTMC
Golam Rabbani Helal, member of the National Team Management Committee and team leader of the SAFF Championship squad, resigned from his position alleging inefficiency of the NTMC in managing the national football team.
Helal stormed out of an emergency meeting called at the BFF (Bangladesh Football Federation) House yesterday to review the recent debacle in the regional competition after verbally saying he was going to resign. Contacted later, Helal said, "NTMC is absolutely inefficient. They cannot provide the players with good facilities, cannot pay them regularly, cannot arrange for practice matches. I therefore denounce this committee and I will submit my resignation letter tomorrow [Sunday]."
The meeting, chaired by NTMC chairman Badal Roy in presence of BFF president Kazi Salahuddin, interviewed coach Nikola Ilievski and captain Mohammad Sujon about the debacle. Badal Roy said they found some incongruence in the versions of the coach and the players as to why the team played so ruefully in Delhi and were knocked out in the first stage. Badal Roy also informed NTMC will take a decision whether the coach will stay or not after reviewing the reports from the coach, manager and players.
