HC asks Mockbul to surrender in tribunal
The High Court (HC) yesterday asked former Awami League lawmaker Mockbul Hossain to surrender before the tribunal within seven days in a corruption case in which he was earlier sentenced to 13 years in prison.
The HC bench of Justice Md Shamsul Huda and Justice Abu Bakar Siddiquee handed down the order following a petition recently filed by Mockbul against the lower court verdict.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case against him for concealing wealth information and amassing wealth beyond known sources of income.
Mockbul's lawyer advocate Abdul Matin Khasru said, as per the HC order, his client will surrender to the Special Court-9 that will send him to jail.
Khasru said his client will file a petition with the HC seeking bail in this case
