Opposition chief whip gets bail

A Dhaka court yesterday granted bail to Opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abedin Farroque in a defamation case in which an arrest warrant was earlier issued against him on charge of making "derogatory remarks" about prime minister's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
Metropolitan Magistrate AKM Emdadul Haque passed the order upon a bond of Tk 5,000 with two guarantors after Farroque along with his lawyers appeared before it and sought bail in the case.
On March 24 this year, publicity secretary of Bangabandhu Sainik League MH Aminul filed the case against him with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court.
