Brig Gen Shah Md Sultan Uddin Iqbal, joint secretary (W&D), Ministry of Defence, has been elected chairman of the Governing Board of the Saarc Meteorological Research Centre (SMRC) at the 13th meeting of the Governing Board of SMRC held on November 4-5, says an ISPR press release.
This is the first time a Bangladeshi has been elected to the post.
Representatives from host Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan and representatives of Saarc Secretary General participated in the meeting.
