HC grants bail to Mamun

The High Court yesterday in separate verdicts granted bail to controversial businessman Giasuddin Al Mamun in four extortion cases.
Four businessmen filed the cases under emergency power rules 2007 against Mamun with different police stations in Dhaka during the past caretaker government.
The HC bench of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice Md Rais Uddin came up with the verdicts in four separate bail petitions filed by Mamun.
Earlier, the HC bench had issued the rules asking the government to explain why Mamun should not be granted regular bails in the extortion cases against him.
