Announcing the most coveted fashion week of the year
The Fashion Design Council of Bangladesh (FDCB) partnered with TRESemme and announced the singular, much-hyped event of the year, the TRESemme Bangladesh Fashion Week, slated for 23 to 25 January, 2020, at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB).
“FDCB is an association of designers engaged in the promotion of sustainable designs. We have, for the past 6 years, held international events to help and promote home-grown designers of our industry and have essentially built awareness campaigns for safe and conscious work environment promoting locally-created work. Our aim and goal is to always preserve the DNA of Bangladeshi design heritage. Our work entails vertical integration of people that includes many at the grassroots who we empower and whose work we champion,” states Maheen Khan, President of FDCB.
The announcement was made at a conference held exclusively at Dhaka’s elite Le Méridien on Thursday, 16 January, 2020, with Maheen Khan, President of FDCB and Nafees Anwar, Beauty and Personal Care Director of Unilever Bangladesh Limited, gracing the event.
Promoting the empowerment of women, this year’s fashion week thrives on the theme, ‘Do it for you.’
“In Unilever, every single brand we operate with has a purpose, starting from a Lifebuoy to TRESemme. We believe that hair is a big part of a woman’s beauty, and also a big part of the worries a woman goes through. If you have a bad hair day, you have a bad day. While dressing up, your hair is a big part of you. You style yourself for yourself, and you do it for you, which translates from the backstage of your own bedroom to the runway of life,” explains Nafees Khan.
21 local and 9 foreign designers are set to showcase their masterpieces at the 3-day fashion show. International designers like Anuj Sharma, Soumitra Mandal, Alka Sharma, Asif Shaikh and Riddhi Jain hailing from India, Ajay Gurung from Nepal and Chandrika Tamang from Bhutan will reveal their creations at the event. Moreover, local designers, to the likes of Emdad Haque, Shaibal Saha, Farah Anjum Bari, Chandan Dewan and Lipi Khandaker, along with Maheen Khan, who are local fashion elites, will also be joining the fashion show.
