Will return to election campaign in 2-3 days: Mamata from hospital bed
Injured West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, in a video message from hospital bed, said that she would return to the assembly election campaign trail in two to three days and also urged her supporters to maintain peace and restraint.
A day after an attack in Nandigram in which she suffered injuries, Mamata said in the message released today: "I will be back in two-three days. My leg injury will remain a problem but I will manage. I won't let it affect my meetings but I will have to move around in a wheelchair. For that, I will need your support."
She came under the attack around 6:15pm on Wednesday when Mamata was about to leave Birulia area near Reyapara.
In the video message today, she said "It is true that I was injured in my arm, leg, ligament. I suffered chest pain..."
She said, "I appeal to everyone to be peaceful and maintain restraint, and don't do anything that will inconvenience people."
Earlier in the day, Bharatiya Janata Party leaders visited the state-run hospital where Mamata is undergoing treatment but said they could not meet her as doctors did not allow it.
West Bengal police has registered a case over the incident in Nandigram where Mamata filed her nomination on Wednesday. She will face Suvendu Adhikari, her former protégé and now senior BJP leader, in upcoming assembly poll.
Mamata's injury has led to postponement of the release of Trinamool Congress manifesto.
