Amitabh Bachchan in stable condition

The condition of Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan, who tested positive for coronavirus last night and was hospitalised in Mumbai, was today stated "stable with mild symptoms."

Besides Amitabh, 77, his actor-son Abhishek also tested positive while the remaining members of the family, including Jaya Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aradhiya have also undergone tests for Covid-19 and their results are expected today, said Maharashtra state Health Minister Rajesh Tope.

Tope said while Jaya, Aishwariya and her daughter Aradhiya tested in rapid antigen test, their RT-PCR tests was also conducted whose report is likely today.

Tope had said "Amitabh Bachchan ji and Abhishek had mild symptoms. They had cough and fever. They underwent rapid antigen test and (result) came positive. Since he (Amitabh) is co-morbid he has got himself admitted to the hospital. They both are normal. Their test was conducted today at the Nanavati hospital," the minister said.

A statement issued by Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital, near the Bachchans' residence in Juhu locality of Mumbai, this morning said the veteran actor is "stable and is having mild symptoms".

Amitabh Bachchan would update his fans about his health condition via Twitter, said the Hospital.

The father and the son had separately taken to their Twitter handles to announce last night that tested positive for the disease.

The civic body of Mumbai today sanitised the residence of the Bachchans.

Amitabh Bachchan had battled health problems in the past also.

In 2012, he recovered from tuberculosis and later suffered from Hepatitis B with compromised liver functioning.

Mumbai is India's financial and entertain hub and the capital city of Maharashtra, India's most industrialised state, which is the worst hit by coronavirus and recorded its highest single-day spike on Saturday with 8,139 new infections. The state has reported 2,46,600 cases so far.
