‘4G internet services being restored across Jammu and Kashmir’
High speed 4G internet services are being restored across Jammu and Kashmir, a senior government official said today, more than 18 months after they were cut in the wake of the scrapping of the former state's special status under the Indian constitution.
"4G mobile internet services being restored in entire J&K," Jammu and Kashmir administration spokesperson Rohit Kansal said in a Twitter post.
The services, according to sources, are likely to resume from midnight tonight.
The internet services were shut by the government on August 5, 2019 when the special status of Jammu and Kashmir as a state under Article 370 of the constitution was revoked in parliament and the territory was bifurcated into Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
On August 5, 2019, Jammu and Kashmir became a federally-ruled territory.
High-speed internet services were cut at that time while 2G services were restored at several places of Jammu and Kashmir early last year.
