India reports under 20,000 daily Covid-19 cases after 7 months
India today reported less than 20,000 new Covid-19 cases for the first time in over seven months, reflecting the sustained downward graph of the infectious disease, Indian health ministry data said.
Also, India administered 1,02,22,525 Covid-19 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours for the fifth time, taking the vaccination coverage past the mark of 87 crore as per provisional reports till 7:00am local time today, the ministry said.
The active caseload is at present pegged at 2,92,206, which is the lowest in 192 days, reports our New Delhi correspondent.
The daily new cases reported in the last 24 hours are 18,795, the lowest since March 11 this year.
The number of active cases account for less than one percent of the total cases, currently at 0.87%, the lowest since March last year.
The recovery of 26,030 people in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients since the beginning of the pandemic to 3,29,58,002.
Consequently, the recovery rate stands at 97.81%, the highest since March, 2020.
