Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Covid-19 Field Hospital opens for critically ill patients
The newly inaugurated Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Covid-19 Field Hospital will provide services to the critically ill Covid-19 patients only.
The hospital will admit those whose oxygen saturation level will be below 80, Prof Dr Debabrata Banik, coordinator of the hospital, said during inauguration of the hospital.
If any mild and moderately ill patient comes to the hospital, they will be sent back home after giving primary treatment, the coordinator said.
While addressing the programme, Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, director general of the Directorate General of Health Services, said only new patients will be admitted to the hospital. Those who are already undergoing treatment at other hospitals will not be shifted here, the DG said.
Health Secretary Lokman Hossain Miah said, "We are starting the hospital with 357 beds, which will be upgraded to 1,000 soon."
There are 20 ICU beds and 20 HDU beds at the hospital at present.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque was also present on the occasion.
