14-day lockdown starting tomorrow ‘stricter’ than before: state minister for public administration
The restrictions announced by the government from tomorrow until August 5 will be "stricter than the one imposed last time", State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said today.
Police, Bangladesh Border Guard and the Army members will remain vigilant on the roads to implement the restrictions, the state minister told reporters.
According to the Cabinet Division's announcement, the restrictions will start from 6:00am tomorrow (July 23) and continue till midnight on August 5.
All kinds of industries will be shut for the 14-day restrictions. Offices, and garment factories will also remain closed this time, he said.
So, those who went to their home districts during the Eid-ul-Azha vacation cannot return to Dhaka city before August 5, he added.
Despite industry bodies BGMEA and FBCCI urging the government to keep garment and related industries out of the purview of the Covid lockdown, the minister said that no decision was taken this month. "We will take a call as per the situation," he added according to UNB.
During the previous 'complete lockdown' industries were open.
