Covid spike: 5 die in 24 hours, positivity rate now 13.79%

Five people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country is currently 29,217 and the death rate stands at 1.47 percent.

At least 1,027 new Covid-19 cases were recorded during this period.

The current positivity rate is 13.79 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.77 percent.

With the new infections, the total number of cases rose to 19,92,058 added the release.

A total of 7,448 samples were tested across the country during this period.

At least 1,559 patients have recovered from Covid-19 within this time. The total number of recoveries now stands at 19,17,419 and the recovery rate at 96.25 percent, said the release.

Of the five deceased, four were male and one was female. They are between 61-100 years old, added the release.
