Covid positivity rate shoots up to 6.78%, 1,491 cases in 24hrs

Three people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 28,102 and the death rate stands at 1.76 percent.

At least 1,491 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 15,93,700, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 6.78 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.65 percent.

A total of 21,980 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours.

At least 217 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,50,905 and the recovery rate at 97.31 percent.

Of the three deceased, one was male and two were females.

Of them, one was between 21-30 years old, and two were within 61-70 years old, added the release.
