Covid positivity rate shoots up to 8.97% in 24hrs

At least 2,458 new infections were recorded and two people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The current test-positivity rate is 8.97 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.63 percent.

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 28,107 and the mortality rate stands at 1.76 percent. Meanwhile, the total number of cases rose to 15,98,389, added the release.

A total of 27,399 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours.

At least 274 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,51,387 and the recovery rate at 97.06 percent.

The two deceased were male -- aged between 61-70 years old, added the release.
