Germany defeat will haunt us forever: Ramires
Brazil's players will be haunted by their 7-1 defeat to Germany for the rest of their lives, according to Ramires.
The Selecao were expected to go on and win the tournament but instead finished fourth as a 3-0 defeat to Netherlands in the third-place play-off followed their humiliating semi-final loss to Joachim Low's men, reports goal.com
And Ramires admitted the trouncing in the last four will remain with Brazil's players for the rest of their lives.
"We didn’t expect to concede seven in the last match," he told Globo. "We are all sad, there’s not much left to say.
"We can’t point at each other right now. We all lose together. This result will be a stain on this group for the remainder of our lives. But we have to try and keep walking tall, to look for comfort with our families.
"We are sorry to the Brazilian people who supported us all along. They showed that even today. We dug out something good, to get the fans believing again.
"We saw the people in the streets while we were in our bus, some of them left home to at least wave at us. We are disappointed for ending it like this."
The tournament hosts put in another poor performance in the loss to Netherlands and Ramires admitted his side were completely lost on the field against the Dutch.
"It's hard to analyse. I can say we are somewhat lost in the pitch at the end. We had another opportunity, not to overcome the last defeat, but at least to end the World Cup in a positive fashion."
