US TAKES NOTE OF CHINESE ENVOY'S COMMENT ON QUAD AND BANGLADESH

The US has taken note of the statement of Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming that Dhaka's relations with Beijing will "substantially get damaged" if it joined Quad, a US-led initiative meant to ensure free and open Indo-Pacific, said Ned Price, US State Department Spokesman, in a media briefing on May 12.

5 home-goers die after falling ill in the heat

Five people died after they fell sick due to the heat on two overcrowded ferries in Madaripur's Banglabazar on May 12. Eight others fell ill at the same time around yesterday noon, Shibchar Police Station's Officer-in-Charge Miraz Hossain told The Daily Star.
