Fake Covid-19 certificates: Rab asked to submit probe report against Shahed by Dec 17

A Dhaka court today again asked Rapid Action Battalion to submit by December 17 the probe report of a case filed against Regent Group Chairman Mohammad Shahed and 16 others over issuing fake Covid-19 certificates and illegally charging patients for testing and treatment.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Baki Billah passed the order after Rab's Senior ASP Md Nozmul Haque, also investigation officer of the case, failed to submit any report today.

On October 8, another Dhaka court asked Rab to submit the probe report by today (Sunday). Earlier, the investigators had taken two more dates to complete the probe but failed.

Twelve of the accused, including Shahed and Regent's Managing Director Masud Parvez, were arrested and are now in jail. They were also placed on different terms of remand in the case.

On September 28, Shahed was convicted for life in an arms case.
