Expat’s wife in Jashore claims UP member stabbed her for ‘rejecting advances’
The wife of an expatriate was allegedly stabbed by a UP member in Chaugachha Upazila of Jashore last night.
After she was attacked, she received treatment at Chougachha Upazila Health Complex and lodged a written complaint against Ali Ahmed, member of Narayanpur union in the upazila, reports our Benapole correspondent quoting police.
In the complaint, the victim said Ali Ahmed made advances on her several times and gave her "indecent proposals" since her husband went to Malaysia three years back.
As she refused, the UP member along with his followers attacked her house and stabbed her around 10:30pm last night.
They left the house with TK 130,000 in cash and ornaments, the victim said.
Denying the allegations, the UP member told reporters over phone that they were in a relationship and he "punched the woman" following an argument over an issue.
Officer-in-Charge of Chaugachha Police Station Rifat Khan Rajib said Ali Ahmed went into hiding soon after the incident. Action will be taken against him after investigation, he added.
