All sacrificial animal waste in Dhaka north cleared in 8hrs, says DNCC

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has announced that it has successfully completed disposal of all sacrificial animal waste on Eid-ul-Azha within the eight-hour timeframe declared earlier.
DNCC announced completion of the task in a press release issued by Moqbul Hossain, its public relations officer.
DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam expressed his gratitude for the cooperation of the citizens, stating that it was possible to dispose of all sacrificial animal waste in Dhaka north city even before the scheduled deadline. He pledged to continue working together to maintain cleanliness in the city in the future.
The waste management programme was inaugurated by the mayor in Ward 13 of at Manikpur area on Thursday at 2:00pm. The operation was completed within seven and a half hours, by 9:30pm. A total of 14,500 tonnes of waste was disposed of through 2,713 trips in 10 DNCC zones.
The DNCC waste management department reported that 100 percent waste disposal was achieved in all 54 wards. In Ward 16, all waste was collected and stored at the Solid Waste Transfer Station (STS) for landfilling.
Approximately 11,000 workers were deployed for waste disposal within the designated time.
Meanwhile, Abu Naser, the spokesperson of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), said the waste disposal of sacrificial animal remains had been completed in 60 wards of DSCC by 10:00pm.
The average progress in the remaining wards was 90 percent, he said.
The DSCC has earlier announced a 24-hour period to clean up the remains of animals sacrificed on Eid-ul-Azha.
