‘My responsibilities as an artiste increase with each accolade’
Popular actress Jaya Ahsan has wrapped up the dubbing for her forthcoming film, "OCD" in Kolkata. She is spending Durga Puja with her friends and well-wishers in the city.
Besides being an esteemed artiste in the entertainment industry of Bangladesh, she has also made a name for herself in Kolkata's Bangla films.
Last year at the Madrid Film Festival, Jaya Ahsan had won the award for Best Lead Actress in a Foreign Language Film for her performance in "Robibaar". Although her name for the award was announced a few months ago, the actress just recently received the trophy.
"My responsibilities as an artiste increase with each accolade," she shares. "I am now more inspired to keep working in good films. This is my first award from a country outside the Indian subcontinent. I am honoured to represent Bangladesh at such a prestigious, international platform."
"I feel incredibly humbled to receive this award. I am grateful to my director Atanu Ghosh and to the audience for all the love they have showered upon 'Robibaar'," she further adds over a phone conversation with The Daily Star.
Jaya Ahsan also opened up about celebrating Durga Puja in Kolkata. "I have had some great Puja feasts this time. The people here have welcomed me with immense love and hospitality," shares the actress.
Recently, the Jaya Ahsan starrer "Alatchakra" was released in Bangladesh, while her film, "Binisutoy" was released in Kolkata. She will head back to Bangladesh by the end of this month.
