I am alone, I am well: Monalisa

Popular model and actress Monalisa has been living in America for quite some time. She will return home, to Bangladesh, next year. Tomorrow, October 5, is her birthday.
On the eve of the special occasion, Monalisa opened up to The Daily Star about how busy her time abroad has been.
You have been living in the US for a while now. How have you been enjoying your time here?
I am doing quite well, with the grace of God, and I am grateful for it. Staying here, I have been completely immersed in my work, and have also been busy with my education.
Although I am far away from my country, there are many Bangladeshis here, and that sort of makes this place feel like home at times.
Don't you miss the popularity and fame you had from showbiz back in Bangladesh?
It would be wrong to say that I don't miss it. I have received the love of so many people due to my work, and am still receiving it to this day. Even now, people talk about the various projects I worked on while I was in Bangladesh. These are some of the greatest achievements of my life. At least that's how I see it.

Do you feel homesick when you think about Bangladesh?
There is this natural pull that I have towards Bangladesh. I am constantly missing home. My mother is there, and I remember her each and every day. So, I also remember the country every day as well. Bangladesh is always in my heart. I want to return home next month and stay for a few days. At the same time, I also want to work on a few projects back home.
Tomorrow is your birthday. How do you plan on spending your special day?
I have not planned anything for my birthday. I will be on holiday for my birthday. I am sure some of my friends will try and surprise me for my birthday. Hopefully, I'll get to spend the special day with my friends. Apart from this, every year people from back home send me their love and best wishes on the occasion. I hope I will receive their love this year as well.
Do you have any plans to go from being single to finding that special someone for yourself?
I am doing quite well by myself. Work keeps me busy. Alongside that, I also have my studies. Right now, I am not thinking about anyone else, and I like that. Work is what keeps people alive, at least in my opinion.

Did you go out to celebrate puja this time?
No, unfortunately, this year I did not get the time to enjoy puja. However, I have seen that there is a lot of joy in the festivities of puja over here. Actually, I had gone to celebrate puja in the US a few years back and I really enjoyed the experience. But this year, I was unfortunately unable to make the time to go, even though I wanted to.
