Renowned singer-composer Bappa Mazumder, along with his wife, actress Tania Hossain, and their two daughters, narrowly escaped a fire that broke out at their Banani residence early Thursday (May 22) morning. The incident, which occurred in the multi-storey building where the family lives, prompted an emergency response from the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence.

According to Bappa Mazumder, the fire originated on the ground floor of the building. Upon receiving an intercom call, he attempted to evacuate but found the hallways engulfed in smoke.

"I panicked. The heat from the fire was so intense it touched my face," the musician recounted. For a while, the family stood helplessly on the balcony, unsure of their next move.

In that moment of crisis, Bappa contacted lyricist Shahan Kabondho, who lives nearby. With his assistance, the singer, his wife, and children managed to evacuate safely.

In a social media post, Bappa wrote, "We narrowly escaped the fire in our building. Thankfully, we are all safe. Immense thanks to the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence. I shudder to think what could have happened had they not acted swiftly. It was a terrifying experience—still difficult to process."

Speaking to Prothom Alo, Bappa added, "By the grace of the Almighty, we were spared from a major disaster. The fire service reached quickly, possibly because there were fewer vehicles on the road in the early hours. I can't imagine what might have happened otherwise. I'm still struggling to recover from the mental trauma. It will take time."
