Anjan Dutt captivates crowds at JU
The singer-songwriter has been a staple part of every Bengali's university experience since the early 80s. His songs serve as regalement of love, society and heartbreak. Yesterday at Jahangirnagar University, he performed in the "Batch Day" celebrations arranged by the institution's 31st batch.
Anjan ascended the university's Selim Al Deen Muktomancha around 8 pm, clad in his signature dark shirt and sunglasses. The theatre filled to the brim with enthusiastic students and admirers, while the legendary singer performed his hit songs, beginning the celebrations with "Shunte Ki Chao".
Following that, he performed "Tumi Na Thakle", "Mary Ann", "Ranjana Ami Ar Ashbona" and "Aami Ashbo Phire". He concluded the colourful programme by performing "2441139 (Bela Bose). During his performance, the whole University joined in as a celebration of youth and nostalgia.
The eminent singer had recently celebrated his 70th birthday. The multifaceted singer, actor, director and writer made his cinema debut with the decorated filmmaker Mrinal Sen. After the release of his last film "Revolver Rohoshyo", Anjan Dutt is now focusing on making his upcoming film, "Chalchitro 80", paying tribute to the late legendary director Mrinal Sen on his 100th birth anniversary.
