3 people suspected to be Rohingya robbers killed in Teknaf ‘gunfight’
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today said three people suspected to be Rohingya robbers were killed in a gunfight with Rab members at Shalbagan Hill near a Rohingya refugee camp in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar.
Acting on information that robbers were dumping arms in the hill area, a team of Rab conducted a drive in the area this afternoon, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent quoting Major Mehdi Hasan, deputy captain of Rab-15.
Sensing presence of Rab members, the gang opened fire on them prompting Rab to fire back, triggering the gunfight, he said.
After the gunfight, Rab found three dead bodies lying on the ground and recovered three pistols, four one shooter guns and 25 rounds of bullets from the scene.
One of the Rab members suffered bullet injury during the gunfight and is now undergoing treatment at a local hospital, the deputy captain said.
