TCB products seized from a dealer’s house in Rajshahi

The Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection in Rajshahi this afternoon seized essential products from the residence of one of the dealers of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB).
The seized products are 1520 litres of edible oil, 350kgs of sugar, 300kgs of lentil and 200kgs of chickpea, reports our Rajshahi staff correspondent quoting Hasan Al Maruf, assistant director of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP).
The TCB dealer Mostaque Ahmed, owner of Kajal Traders was asked to explain within 15 days the reason behind storing TCB products at his home instead of selling them on trucks as per the rules.
Legal action will be taken after a hearing on his explanation, the DNCRP official said.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of DNCRP, assisted by the police, raided the house of Mostaque Ahmed around 5:00pm and found he stored TCB products at his house.
There is a grocery shop with Mostaque's house and the shop is run by his wife.
"We saw some of the TCB products stored at the grocery shop," the DNCRP official said.
Rajshahi Regional Office Chief of TCB Rabiul Morshed said, Mostaque was a listed dealer and was given the products more than a week ago.
"If he would have sold the products as per the rules, the products should have been sold out in a few days," he told reporters.
