Sexual assault of Bangladeshi girl in India: Rab arrests 4 including 'mastermind' of trafficking gang

Rab claimed to have arrested four members of a human trafficking gang, including a mastermind, from different areas in the country.

Two of them were initially identified as Ashraful Mondal alias "Boss Rafi", the alleged mastermind, and his associate Shahida.

ANM Imran Khan, Rab's legal and media wing assistant director, confirmed the arrests.

This gang is involved in trafficking a 22-year-old Bangladeshi woman, who was tortured and sexually assaulted in India recently, Rab said.

After the video went viral on social media, Indian police on May 27 arrested Rifatul Islam Ridoy, known as "Ridoy Babu" on TikTok, along with five other Bangladeshis, from Bengaluru.

Bangladeshi law enforcement agency began an investigation and found a transnational racket, involving some Bangladeshis, which trapped victims using the social media platform TikTok.

Rab will hold a press briefing later in the day to disclose details.
