Regent Group Chairman, MD indicted for possessing fake notes
A Dhaka court today framed charges against Regent Group Chairman Mohammad Shahed and its Managing Director Masud Parvez in a case filed over possessing Tk 1.145 lakh in fake notes in July this year.
Shahed and Masud, now in jail, pleaded not guilty and demanded justice after Judge Md Rabiul Alam of the Third Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court of Dhaka read the charges to them.
The judge set March 15 for starting trial of the case.
On November 3 last year, Mohammad Zakir Hossain, a sub-inspector of Rab-1 and also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka, showing 13 people as prosecution witnesses.
According to the prosecution, it was alleged that a team of Rab-1 raided a house at Sector-11, Road 20, House 62 of Uttara Paschim around 8:40pm on July 15 last year and seized fake notes of Tk 1,14,500 from their possession.
Shahed, accused in over 56 cases, was arrested on July 15 last year from Satkhira when he was leaving the country on a boat while Masud was arrested from Gazipur on July 14 the same year.
