Coast Guard seizes 30,000 yaba pills, arrests 5 drug traders in Teknaf
Bangladesh Coast Guard today seized 30,000 yaba pills and arrested five alleged drug traffickers during a raid on the Naf River in Cox's Bazar's Teknaf.
A wooden boat was also seized, said Lt Commander Amirul Islam of Coast Guard Headquarters.
The arrestees are Nurul Amin (50), Abdul Quddus (40), Karim Mollah (25), Omar Faruque (22) and Sanam Ullah (30). All of them are inhabitants of Shah Porir Dwip.
Acting on a tip-off, a Coast Guard team from Saint Martin's station conducted the drive on the Naf River. Around 1:35 pm, they saw a wooden boat crossing into Bangladesh from Myanmar. It tried to flee the scene seeing the speed boat of the law enforcers. The Coast Guard team then chased the boat and was able to seize it, said the official.
"While searching the boat, the five drug traders in possession of 30,000 yaba pills were arrested," said Lt Commander Amirul.
