Bodies of mother and infant daughter recovered from corn field in Bogura
Police in Bogura recovered the bodies of a woman and her infant daughter from a corn field in a remote shoal area on the Jamuna river yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Shefali Khatun (22), wife of Al-Amin of Shankarpur Char (shoal) area under Sariakandi upazila of Bogura, and their six-month old daughter Ayesha, reports our Bogura correspondent quoting police.
Shefali and her daughter had been missing since Saturday afternoon, said Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sariakandi Police Station citing locals.
Locals found the bodies in the corn field yesterday afternoon and informed police, who later went to the spot and recovered the bodies, he said.
Police are primarily suspecting that they were strangled to death since the woman's neck bears some wounds while there is no injury mark on the infant's body, OC Mizanur said, adding that police will send the bodies for autopsy on Monday.
The actual cause of death would be revealed after autopsy, he said.
Police are looking for Shefali's husband who has also been missing since Saturday, the police official added.
