BGB arrests 2 Indian smugglers from Kurigram
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh today arrested two Indian smugglers from Bangladeshi territory near Dantbhanga border in Roumari upazila of Kurigram.
After receiving information from the National Security Intelligence (NSI), BGB members apprehended the two Indian men from border village Khetarchar near international pillar-1054 this afternoon.
The arrestees are Golzar Hossain (22) of Dwipchar area under South Shalmara Police Station in Dhubri district of Assam and Taiyub Ali (20), also from the same area, reports our Lalmonirhat correspondent.
The two Indians illegally entered into Bangladesh through a culvert at the south gate of barbed wire fence near international border pillar-1054 for smuggling, said Md Mahisuzzaman, assistant director of NSI in Roumari.
"Based on the information of NSI, the BGB patrol team of Dantbhanga BOP camp arrested them," he added.
The arrested Indians used to smuggle various goods including contraband drug consignments to India and Bangladesh at different times. "A case has been filed by the BGB over the incident," the NSI assistant director said adding that they were handed over to Roumari Police Station.
"BGB filed a case against the two Indian nationals under the Illegal Entry Act, said Roumari Police Station Sub-Inspector Liton Miah.
