18-year-old household staff scalded at Uttara residence, one held
Police today detained the daughter of the owner of a home where an 18-year-old household staff sustained five percent burn injuries after being scalded on Wednesday.
Acting on a 999 call, the law enforcers rescued Miyasa Akhter from the second floor of a residence in the capital's Uttara-9 area and detained the 27-year-old daughter of the home owner for pouring boiling rice foam on the victim.
The incident took place on Wednesday.
The victim was taken to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, Uttara West Police Station Sub-Inspector Kanchan Rayhan said.
The home owner had been treating the victim at home since the incident but the doctor today called 999 and reported the matter.
SI Kanchan said the victim sustained five percent burn injuries on her shoulder, neck and back. She is now undergoing treatment at the Dhaka Medical One-Stop Crisis Centre, he added.
The victim had been working at the house for a year.
