Trader's murder sparks protest in Gaibandha

Traders and cultural activists of Gobindaganj upazila formed a human chain at the upazila headquarters yesterday, demanding immediate arrest and capital punishment of the killers of trader Tarun Dutta.

They later brought out a procession that paraded the main roads of Gobindaganj municipality.

An unidentified gang swooped on local trader Tarun Dutta while he was taking a morning walk on the College Road in the upazila on February 8. The gang members killed him by slitting his throat and dumped the body under a culvert.

Protesting the killing and demanding exemplary punishment of the killers, locals held several meetings, road blockades and demonstrations, but police are yet to arrest any of the culprits involved.
