Shimulia-Banglabazar ferry services resume after 12 hours
Ferry services on the Shimulia-Banglabazar route resumed 12 hours after suspension due to dense fog.
The ferry services resumed around 9:30 am today when the fog started to clear, our Munshiganj correspondent reports quoting Ahmed Ali, marine manager of BIWTC.
He said marking lights of ferries could not be followed due to dense fog last night. So, the authorities suspended the ferry movement around 9:30 pm yesterday to avoid accidents, said the BIWTC official.
Over 600 vehicles were seen waiting on both sides to cross the river Padma, causing immense sufferings to the passengers.
Three ferries carrying passengers and vehicles had to anchor in the middle of the river due to the fog.
After the ferry services resumed, 15 ferries started transporting vehicles and passengers, the BIWTC official said.
