Paturia-Daulatdia ferry services resume after over 7 hours
Ferry services between Paturia and Daulatdia resumed this morning after seven and a half hours of suspension due to dense fog.
The ferry movement started around 9:30 am, reports our Manikganj correspondent.
"Marking lights of ferries became unclear last night due to the dense fog. To avoid accidents, the ferry services were suspended around 2:00am today," Zillur Rahman, deputy general manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), Aricha office, told The Daily Star.
Over 500 vehicles including 300 goods-leaden trucks were stuck at Parturia side due to the suspension of the ferry services. The situation was same at Daulatdia terminal of Rajbari district.
After the resumption of the services, vehicles carrying passengers and perishable items are being allowed to cross the river on priority basis, Zillur Rahman said.
