One killed, 6 injured over land dispute in Pabna

One person was killed and six were injured during a clash over a long standing dispute over land in Atgharia upazila of Pabna.
The deceased was identified as Golap Pramanik (40), son of Abdul Pramanik of Joykrishna village in the upazila, reports our local correspondent quoting Kamrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Ataikula Police Station.
Golap and his family had a quarrel with Shahadat Ali Gong of the same village regarding a piece of land owned by Golap's family for a long time, the OC said.
Yesterday afternoon, when Golap tried to build a hut on the land -- adjacent to another hut belonging to Shahadat Ali -- Shahadat and his men attacked him with sharp weapons, the OC said quoting witnesses.
They also attacked Golap's home and injured his father and brother, among six others.
Golap was rushed to Pabna General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead around 8pm. The body was sent to the morgue for autopsy, the police official added.
A case was filed with Ataikula Police Station in this regard. Police have already arrested two persons in this connection, the OC said.
However, the main accused Shahadat was yet to be apprehended.
