Man shot dead allegedly by BSF in Lalmonirhat

A man was shot dead along the Jhalangi border in Lalmonirhat's Patgram upazila allegedly by members of India's Border Security Force (BSF).

The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam Azad (29), Naik Subedar Jalal Sardar, commander of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 61-Jhalangi battalion said.

The incident took place around 5:00am today when a group of six to seven people were "smuggling" cattle from India, the BGB official said.

Azad died on the way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. A protest letter was sent to BSF over the incident, Jalal said.
